What better way to start off my blog than a quote from the Hebrew Scripture in Genesis 1:1-2 "In the beginning, when God created the heavens and the earth, the earth was a formless wasteland, and darkness covered the abyss, while a mighty wind swept over the waters." So I why did I choose this quote when there are so many wonderful quotes from both the Hebrew Scripture and the New Testament?
I guess there are a number of practical reasons. First, I am just 'beginning' my very first blog. Second, my blog is faith based, coming from a Roman Catholic perspective, so why not refer to the bible. I think, however, the most profound reason I choose this particular verse was because it symbolizes my spirituality as I reflect and refocus my Catholic faith.
I though about making the first entry all about where I have been and why I choose to write this blog now, but I wasn't sure if they had a post length limit; just kidding. I am sure I will post enough about myself as a go along. Certainly I feel my past and my journeys are important, but I really want the focus of my blog to be on my ministry here and now. Since returning to my Catholic faith I have been experiencing all sorts of new thing, ideas, and thoughts. I want to share my journey and thoughts with you.
I guess it is important to mention I am no theologian and I certainly do not speak for the Catholic Church or the Vatican for that matter, I simply want to share what I am learning and experiencing and hopefully connect with others who have had or are having a similar journeys in faith. My goal is to post at least several times a week, ideally I would like to post daily, but I feel that would push me to post thoughts at a pace which would limit genuine reflection; I want my post to be 'real and sincere' not just something to accomplish daily. If I get better at blogging or I have a rush of ideas or experiences than I am sure I will post more often! God Bless and welcome to my blog!
